Russian Charoite - Royal Lavender

Charoite is a fairly young but not prevalent gemstone, found in Russia. It was named after the Charo river and is also called 'royal lavender'. It may also be called lilac stone and Charoite Jade, was first discovered in the Sakha Republic, Russia in the 1940's. It was only called Charoite when it arrived in the western markets taken from the word ‘chary’, meaning magic (or charms) in the Russian language.
